The crochet pattern

Round 1: Make a magic ring. Work 6 sc in the ring. Join with a slst in the first sc. (6)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in same st (so 2 sc in 1).

In each st: 2 sc in 1.

Join with a slst in the first sc (skip the starting chain). (12)

Round 3: NOTE: Work this round in the front loops only.

slst in next st, ch 1. 1 sc in same st.

Work 1 sc in each st (front loops).

Note: Do not join the round with a slst. Fasten off after the last sc.

Take a needle and insert it through the first sc of this round (insert from front to back). Go back to the last sc of this round and insert only through the back loop (also insert from front to back). Weave in the end neatly.

Round 4: NOTE: Work this round in the back loops only.

You can optionally change colors now.

Join with a sc in the first st. This counts as the first sc of the round.

*1 sc, ch 3.*

Repeat instructions between * to the end of the round. End with a slst in the first sc. (12 ch-spaces)

Round 5: slst in the next ch-space. ch 1, 1 sc in the same ch-space. This counts as the first sc of the round.

*1 sc in ch-space, ch 3.*

Repeat instructions between * to the end of the round. Join with a slst in the 1st sc (skip slst and starting chain). You have 12 ch-spaces.

Round 6: slst in the next ch-space. ch 3 (counts as the first dc of the round).

*6 dc in ch-space, skip sc, 1 sc in next ch-space.*

Repeat instructions between * to the end of the round. Join with a slst in the 3rd ch.

You have 6x 6 dc, and 6 sc in total.

Round 7: ch 1, 1 sc in same st. This counts as the first sc of the round.

*3 sc (1 in each dc), picot, 3 sc (1 in each dc), ch 1, puff stitch (with 4 yarn overs) in sc, ch 1.*

Repeat instructions between * to the end of the round. Join with a slst in the 1st sc.

You have a total of 6 repeats.

Puff stitch of this round:

Step 1: yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop, do this a total of 4 times.

Step 2: yarn over and pull through 8 loops.

Step 3: yarn over and pull through the remaining loops.

Finishing

There are many ways you can use flowers. Depending on what you want to do with your flower, you might not want to weave in the magic ring end and or the fastening off end just yet.

Fasten off, but leave a long tail for sewing or weaving in.

Weave in all other ends neatly with a tapestry needle. Make sure you secure the ends well so they do not come loose. Your flower is now finished!

Sewing the flower onto a mandala or plant pot

It is super fun to sew a flower onto a mandala or plant pot! You can do this very easily.

  1. Take the magic ring tail or the fastening off tail. Thread the tail through a needle.
  2. Insert the needle through a loop of the mandala or plant pot at the desired location. Pull the yarn through.
  3. Go back to the flower, where you started with the yarn. Insert it through a loop at the back of the flower.
  4. Go back and forth between the flower and the mandala or plant pot a few times. Repeat until the flower is neatly and securely attached.
  5. Then weave in all ends neatly.

Using the flower as a keychain or bag charm

Another great option is using the flower as a keychain! This is also very nice to hang on your bag! There are multiple ways to turn it into a keychain:

  • Crochet a chain after the last stitch of the final round. Crochet a desired number of chains and secure the chain with a slst in the same stitch where you ended. Fasten off and weave in all ends neatly. You can attach the loop you just made to your bag or keychain!
  • Take a keyring and sew the flower to it using the fastening off tail. Thread the tail through a needle and go through the keyring and back through the last stitch of the flower a few times. Then tie a knot in the yarn and weave it in neatly.
