Row 1-3 is the same as our basic pattern. For more detailed instructions on these three rows click here for a step-by-step pattern with photos. The fourth row in this pattern is an expansion to this basic pattern.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in same. Crochet 2 dc in each dc. End with a slst in the 3rd chain. (32)
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc of this row).
*2 dc (1 in each), ch 1.*
End with a slst in the 3rd chain from the beginning of this row. (48)
Row 4: 1 slst between the chain 3 (chain from beginning of prev row) and the next dc. Note: this is the first slst of this row as described in instructions between *.
*1 slst between dcs, in chainspace: [4 dc]. 1 slst between dcs. In next chainspace: [1 sc, pic, 1 sc].*
End with a slst in the first slst of this row.
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for finishing.
Tip: use the 'neat fasten off' method to make the beginning/end of the last round invisible. Tutorial on how to do this: watch this video. You follow these steps:
1. Cut the yarn and fully pull through
2. Put yarn through needle
3. Insert needle through first stitch of this row
4. Go back to the last stitch of this row (where you ended) and insert through back loop only.
5. Weave the end.
Weave all ends. Make sure to firmly secure the ends. Your coaster is now finished, well done!
