Row 1: crochet in a mr: chain 3 (counts as dc), work 15 more dc into ring. End with a slst in the 3rd chain from the beginning of this row. (16)
This row step by step:
1. Make a magic ring (make sure to leave a long tail to weave in later)
2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc)
3. Crochet 15 more double crochets into the ring
4. Close the ring.
5. Work 1 slst in the 3rd chain
Total: 16 stitches.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in same. Work 2 dc into each dc. End with a slst in the 3rd chain. (32)
This row step by step:
1. Chain 3 (counts as dc)
2. 1 dc in same stitch (so isnert where you also inserted for the slst at the end of the prev row)
3. 2 dc in each stitch, this means you crochet 2 dcs in each of the remaining 15 stitches
4. Make sure to skip the slst from prev row.
Total: 32 stitches.
Row 3: ch 3 (counts as first dc of this row - note: this means you already crocheted the first dc from instructions between *).
*2 dc (1 in each), ch 1.*
End with a slst in the 3rd chain from the beginning of this row. (48)
This row step by step:
1. Chain 3 (counts as dc).
2. 1 dc in next.
3. Chain 1.
4. You repeat until the end of this row: *1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, chain 1.*
5. End with a slst in the 3rd chain from the beginning of this row. Remember to skip the slst from prev row (otherwise you increase too much which gives you too many stitches at the end of this row).
Total: 48 stitches.
Fasten off, leave a long tail to weave in.
Tip: use the 'neat fasten off' method to make the beginning/end of the last round invisible. For a tutorial on how to do this, watch this video. You follow these steps:
1. Cut the yarn and fully pull through
2. Put the yarn through your needle
3. Insert the needle through the first stitch of this row
4. Go back to the last stitch of this row (where you fastened off) and insert through the back loop only.
5. Weave the end.
Weave all ends. Make sure to firmly secure the ends. Your coaster is now finished, well done!
