All stitches are US terms. On this page you will find an overview of commonly used crochet stitches in the LKCreativeness crochet patterns. The table shows the stitch symbol, along with the name, abbreviation, and a short explanation of the stitch or symbol.

It's best to view this on a tablet or laptop.

Please remember: YO means yarn over, PUAL means pull up a loop (meaning you yarn over and pull through).

Front post stitches (US terms)

The difference between front post, back post stitches and regular stitches is simply the way you insert your hook. There is also a difference between front post stitches and back post stitches.

Front post stitch: You insert your hook from the front of the work to the back between two stitches. You go behind the stitch and come back to the front between the next two stitches. So, with front post stitches, you crochet around the stitch, instead of through the 'V' shape in the top as usual.

Back post stitches (US terms)

The difference between front post, back post stitches and regular stitches is simply the way you insert your hook. There is also a difference between front post stitches and back post stitches.

Back post stitch: You insert, between to stitches, from the back of the work to the front. Now, you go over the stitch on the front side and insert it between the next two stitches to the back again. So, you have inserted your hook around the stitch.
