slst = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
Ready for your mandala crochet adventure? Then take a look at the Suze Mandala crochet pattern! This intermediate pattern is a great stepping stone to try out commonly used techniques and stitches in mandalas.

Round 1: make a magic ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), crochet 11 more dc into the ring. Close with a slst in the 3rd chain. (12)
Round 2: *in next stitch, front loops only: 1 slst, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 slst.*
Repeat * until the end of the round. You do not close the round with a slst. (12 petals)
Round 3: please note, you crochet this round in back loops only. Fold the petals from the previous round towards you so that you can crochet behind them.
1 chain, 1 slst in first stitch. 3 chains (counts as first dc of the round).
*2 dc in every stitch, crochet in back loops only.*
Close with a slst in the 3rd chain. (24)
Round 4: please note, you crochet this round in front loops only.
*in next: 1 slst, 2 chains, 1 dc, 2 chains, 1 slst.*
You do not close the round with a slst. (24 petals)
There are many ways in which you can use flowers. Depending on what you want to do with your flower, you might not want to weave in the tail of the magic ring and/or fastening off yet.
Fasten off, but leave a long tail for sewing/weaving in.
Neatly weave in all remaining tails with a tapestry needle. Make sure you weave them in securely so they don't come loose. Your flower is now ready!
It's super fun to sew a flower onto a mandala or plant pot! You can do this very easily.
