dc = double crochet

The crochet pattern
Round 1: make a magic ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), crochet 11 more dc into the ring. Close with a slst in the 3rd chain. (12)
Round 1
Round 2: *in next stitch, front loops only: 1 slst, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 slst.*
Repeat * until the end of the round. You do not close the round with a slst. (12 petals)
Round 2
Round 3: please note, you crochet this round in back loops only. Fold the petals from the previous round towards you so that you can crochet behind them.
1 chain, 1 slst in first stitch. 3 chains (counts as first dc of the round).
*2 dc in every stitch, crochet in back loops only.*
Close with a slst in the 3rd chain. (24)
Round 3, note: the first chain of the round is not visible. Also, round 2 is not visible in this diagram. You crochet behind the petals of round 2.
Round 4: please note, you crochet this round in front loops only.
*in next: 1 slst, 2 chains, 1 dc, 2 chains, 1 slst.*
You do not close the round with a slst. (24 petals)

Finishing
There are many ways in which you can use flowers. Depending on what you want to do with your flower, you might not want to weave in the tail of the magic ring and/or fastening off yet.
Fasten off, but leave a long tail for sewing/weaving in.
Neatly weave in all remaining tails with a tapestry needle. Make sure you weave them in securely so they don't come loose. Your flower is now ready!
Sewing a flower onto a mandala or plant pot
It's super fun to sew a flower onto a mandala or plant pot! You can do this very easily.
- Take the thread from the magic ring or from fastening off. Put the thread through a needle.
- Go with the needle through a loop of the mandala/plant pot at the desired location. Pull the thread through.
- Go back to the flower, where you started with the thread. Insert here at the back of the flower through a loop.
- Go back and forth between the flower and mandala/plant pot a few times. Repeat until the flower is neatly and securely sewn on.
- Then neatly weave in all threads.
Using a flower as a keychain or bag charm
Another cool option is using the flower as a keychain! This is also very fun to hang on your bag! You have several ways to turn it into a keychain:
- Crochet a chain after the last stitch of the last round. Crochet an X number of chains and attach the chain with a slip stitch in the same stitch as where you ended. Then fasten off and weave in all threads neatly. You can attach the loop you have now made to your bag or keychain!
- Take a key ring and sew the flower to it with the fastening off thread. Thread the tail into a needle and go through the key ring and back through the last stitch of the flower a few times. Then make a knot in the thread and weave it in neatly.
