The crochet pattern

Round 1: make a magic ring. Crochet 6 sc in the ring. Close with a slst in the first sc. (6)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in the same st (so 2 sc in 1).

In each st: 2 sc in 1.

Close with a slst in the first sc (skip the starting ch). (12)

Round 3: NOTE: crochet this round in the front loops only.

1 slst in next st, ch 1. 1 sc in the same st.

Crochet 1 sc in each st (front loops).

Note: do not close the round with a slst. Fasten off after the last sc.

Take a needle and insert it through the first sc of this round (insert from front to back). Go back to the last sc of this round and insert through the back loop only (also from front to back). Now weave in the end neatly.

Round 4: NOTE: crochet this round in the back loops only.

You can optionally change colors now.

Attach yarn with a sc in the first st. This is immediately the first sc of the round.

*1 sc, ch 3.*

Repeat instructions between * until the end of the round. Finish with a slst in the first sc. (12 arches)

Round 5: 1 slst in the next ch-space. ch 1, 1 sc in the same ch-space. This is immediately the first sc of the round.

*1 sc in ch-space, ch 3.*

Repeat instructions between * until the end of the round. Close with a slst in the first sc (skip the slst and starting ch). (12 arches)

Finishing

There are many ways you can use flowers. Depending on what you want to do with your flower, you might not want to weave in the magic ring end and/or the fastening off end just yet.

Fasten off, but leave a long tail for sewing/weaving in.

Weave in all other ends neatly with a tapestry needle. Make sure you weave in the ends securely so they do not come loose. Your flower is now finished!

Sewing the flower onto a mandala or plant pot

It is super fun to sew a flower onto a mandala or plant pot! You can do this very easily.

  1. Take the tail from the magic ring or from fastening off. Thread it through a needle.
  2. Insert the needle through a loop of the mandala/plant pot at the desired spot. Pull the yarn through.
  3. Go back to the flower, where you started with the yarn. Insert through a loop at the back of the flower here.
  4. Go back and forth like this a few times between the flower and the mandala/plant pot. Repeat until the flower is sewn on neatly and securely.
  5. Then weave in all ends neatly.

Using the flower as a keychain or bag charm

Another awesome option is using the flower as a keychain! This is also very nice to hang on your bag! You have several ways to turn it into a keychain here:

  • Crochet a chain after the last stitch of the last round. Crochet a certain number of chains and attach the chain with a slst in the same stitch where you ended. Fasten off and weave in all ends neatly. You can attach the loop you just made to your bag or keychain!
  • Take a keyring and sew the flower to it using the fastening off tail. Thread the yarn through a needle and go through the keyring a few times and back through the last stitch of the flower. Then make a knot in the yarn and weave it in neatly.
