Virelle CAL schedule

The Virelle mandala is divided into four sections during the Virelle CAL, so you can crochet one section each week. If you'd like to crochet a few rows more or less per week, that's okay. However, we'd recommend you not to deviate too much from the schedule if possible.

Frequently Asked Questions: CAL

Check out the frequently asked questions about the Virelle CAL. Is your question not listed? Please contact us, and we'll answer it as quickly as possible.

What is a CAL?

CAL stands for "crochet along". This means you crochet a crochet pattern simultaneously with other makers. This way you can share experiences, exchange tips, and motivate and inspire each other! You can share your photos in the Facebook group, on social media with #VirelleCAL, or by tagging us. This way, others can see your beautiful creations and progress, creating a friendly community! 💗

When is the Virelle CAL?

The Virelle CAL starts on March 14, 2026 and lasts 4 weeks.

How long does the Virelle CAL last?

The crochet-along takes a total of four weeks. See the "Virelle CAL Schedule" above in the blog post for more information.

Can I join later?

Absolutely! You can still join after the Virelle CAL has begun. Just keep in mind that others will have already started. But that's perfectly fine: you can always crochet a few extra rounds during the week, or finish a little later. The important thing is that you enjoy your project, no matter how long it takes!

How much should I crochet per week?

In week 1 we crochet 21 rounds.

In week 2 we crochet 10 rounds.

In week 3 we crochet 9 rounds.

In week 4 we crochet 7 rounds.

The reason we start with more rows is because these rows are still smaller and therefore take less time. The outer rows of a mandala contain many more stitches and therefore take much longer to crochet. 🙂

Whether you finish faster or a little later, everyone crochets at their own pace. We recommend following the Virelle CAL schedule, but if it doesn't quite suit your pace, that's no problem at all.

Can I still crochet the Virelle mandala after the CAL is over?

After the Virelle CAL ends, the Virelle pattern will remain available in our shop.

Can I crochet more rows than scheduled?

Of course you can, but for the true Virelle CAL experience, we recommend following the weekly schedule. 🙂

I'm behind! What now?

That's perfectly fine! Everyone crochets at a different pace. The standard pattern is a guideline you can follow, but it's perfectly fine if it takes a little longer. Even if you're only finished after two months, we'll still be here to admire your beautiful mandala!

How do I get the Virelle pattern?

You can buy the Virelle crochet pattern in our shop: click here . If you've already purchased the pattern, you don't need to buy it again.

You'll receive all the Virelle CAL parts in one complete pattern . You'll crochet according to the schedule in this blog post (see 'CAL schedule'). Tip: Follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram to stay up-to-date. We'll post all the necessary information about the Virelle CAL there every week!

How can I join the community?

You can join the Facebook group " LKCreativeness - crochet mandalas and more ." There you can share your creations and progress and be part of the friendly community! We'll keep you updated on the Virelle CAL. The group is mostly Dutch, but English is very welcome! Thanks to the translation built into Facebook, all Dutch posts can be translated to your own language!

You can also share your photos on social media using #VirelleCAL. Everyone participating in the CAL can see your progress and beautiful creations! This way, we can all share the experience!

You can also stay up-to-date on the Virelle CAL via our Instagram page, so be sure to follow us there too!

How do I stay informed about the Virelle CAL?

Join our Facebook group and/or follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on all the information about the Virelle CAL!

How do I receive the Virelle CAL pattern parts?

You won't receive any separate parts of the pattern. You'll purchase the complete pattern upfront. This means you'll already have the entire pattern at the start. Also read the tip below.

Good to know: If you've already bought it, you don't need to buy it again. You already have the pattern and can happily crochet along!

Tip: It's helpful to mark in the pattern which rows need to be crocheted in which week. You'll receive the complete pattern all at once. This is because it's a pattern that was released four years ago, so we won't send it in separate parts. We still want to crochet it together! Therefore, it's best to note which rows you need to crochet each week. 😊

What are the rules of this CAL?

There are no rules, execpt:

Of course, the most important thing is to always remain friendly and respectful to all participants during the Virelle CAL.

In the end it's all about enjoying this wonderful hobby!

So you're not obligated to do anything; it's all about having fun! If you have any questions, feedback, or comments, please let us know!

Frequently Asked Questions: Materials and Mandala

Check out the frequently asked questions about the mandala and materials. Is your question not listed? Please contact us, and we'll answer it as quickly as possible.

I've already bought the Virelle pattern. Should I buy it again?

No, you don't have to buy it again! The pattern remains the same; the Virelle CAL is all about crocheting together. ❤️

What materials do I need?

  • The crochet pattern (if you've already bought it, you don't need to buy it again!)
  • Crochet hook 2.5 mm/C
  • Yarn (± 800 meters/±880 yards), size 1/super fine/fingering - such as: Yarn and Colors Must-Have, Budget Yarn Cotton, Scheepjes Catona, Durable Coral, etc.
  • Optional: wooden beads of 10, 12 and 15 mm, each size 8x.
  • A 70cm/27,56 inch metal ring (but note: first read this information about the correct ring size!)

What size will the Virelle mandala be?

The pattern is generally designed for a 70 cm mandala. This means the ring is 70 cm/27,56 inch. However, please note: the final size may vary from person to person. The yarn, crochet hook, crochet method, and more all influence the final size of the mandala. Therefore, I recommend purchasing the correct ring size only after crocheting the mandala. Remember: the ring should be approximately 20% larger than the crocheted mandala. For more information about sizes and rings, read this blog post.

What is the level of the Virelle CAL?

The difficulty level is difficult. I recommend this pattern if you already have considerable crochet experience. It uses many different stitches, applied in many different ways, such as specific ways of inserting inserting your hook or crocheting in multiple layers to create depth.

Help! My Virelle mandala doesn't fit in the ring!

I always recommend crocheting the mandala first, and then buying a suitable hoop for your Virelle mandala once it's finished. However, it's possible that your mandala is too big or too small for the hoop. There are always tricks to help you finish your mandala. To determine the best approach, I recommend reading this blog post . All the information is clearly described there.

Will the Virelle mandala remain the same design as usual?

Yes, the mandala remains the same. We'll crochet the Virelle Mandala together, just as you know it. 🌺

Can I also crochet the Virelle mandala without beads?

Absolutely! The beads in the Virelle mandala are optional. You can always use a regular double crochet instead of the 'dc with bead' in the pattern.

Tip: Keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook groups to stay up-to-date on all the CAL information! We'll post all the necessary information about crocheting for the CAL there every week.
