Frequently Asked Questions

Check out the frequently asked questions about the CAL. Is your question not listed? Please contact us and we will answer your question as soon as possible.

When is the CAL?

The CAL starts on Friday June 6th and ends on August 28th.

How long does the CAL last?

The crochet along will take a total of 12 weeks.

Can I still join later?

Yes, you can! You can also join after the CAL has already started. Please keep in mind that the others will have already started. But that is not a problem: you can crochet this CAL at your own pace!

How much should I crochet per week?

Each square has about 15 and 20 rounds. You can crochet 1-3 squares per week, of course it can also be more.

I'm behind! What now?

You will never be behind in this CAL. Everyone crochets at a different pace. The standard schedule is therefore a guideline that you can follow, but it is not a problem if it takes you a little longer. Even if you are finished after 16 weeks; we are still here to admire your beautiful blanket!

I'm already done with the CAL after 8 weeks. Is that bad?

Absolutely not! Everyone crochets at their own pace. Even if you finish your blanket in week 7: it's all good! Share your photos with other crocheters and motivate and inspire each other!

When will I receive the pattern?

In weeks 1 to 6 you will receive a pattern each week. You should have received an email from LKCreativeness with the pattern before the end of the days in question. Don't see an email? Check your spam inbox first.

The dates on which you will receive the patterns are:

June 6 - square 1

June 13 - square 2

June 20 - square 3

June 27 - square 4

July 4th - square 5

July 11 - square 6

July 18 - finishing (crocheting and border)

I’m not getting any emails! What now?

First check your spam inbox. The email probably ended up there. If you don't see the email there either, please contact us.

How many squares does the blanket consist of?

You can crochet the blanket with as many squares as you like. The standard size has a total of 20 squares.

Instructions are included to customize the blanket to your liking.

How do I crochet all the squares together?

In week 7 you will receive the pattern with instructions on how to crochet all the squares together. It also includes instructions on how to crochet the border around the blanket.

Does it matter if my square is bigger/smaller?

Definitely not! Everyone crochets a little differently. The yarn you use, the size of the crochet hook, your personal way of crocheting and more will affect the final size of the squares and the blanket. So it can always deviate a little from the stated dimensions.

My square is warping. How do I straighten it out?

In principle it is not a problem if the square curls a little while crocheting. Try not to crochet too tight. It will also often straighten out when you stretch the square.

Do the patterns have diagrams?

Yes, indeed! Each square has diagrams per round.

What materials do I need?

  • Crochet hook: 4.5 mm
  • Use cotton yarn for best results. I used Durable Double Four, about 20 balls (about 150 meters, so 1 ball, per square). In total you will need about 1800-2000 meters of yarn. Other yarn recommendations: Yarn and Colors Epic, DROPS Paris Uni Colour
  • Stretching board (at least 30x30 cm) or other materials to stretch the squares
  • Needle
  • Pair of scissors

How big will the blanket be?

The standard is a 4x5 square blanket, which is approximately 120x150 cm. There are also instructions for making other sizes of blankets.

What is the level of the CAL?

The level is difficult. I recommend you to make this pattern if you already have a lot of experience with crochet. Many different stitches are used, which are applied in many different ways, such as the way of inserting. Or crocheting in multiple layers to create depth.

Can I still crochet the blanket after the CAL is over?

After the CAL has ended, the patterns will also be available separately in the webshop.

How can I join the community?

You can join the Facebook group ' LKCreativeness - mandala crochet and more '. There you can share your creations and progress and be part of the fun community!

I'm going on vacation during the CAL... Can I still participate?

Of course you can join in then too! Take your crochet work with you on holiday and continue there. Or pick up the thread again when you get back from holiday; it doesn't matter if you finish a bit later!

Let's crochet something beautiful together! Whether you're joining to learn new stitches and techniques, experience crocheting together, or just enjoy the process — this CAL is for you. Together, we'll create something beautiful, square by square. 🧶💖
