Round 1: make a magic ring. Ch 2 (does NOT count as a stitch).
Work 12 inverted half double crochets into the magic ring. See this blog post for a detailed guide on this stitch.
Close with a sl st in the first inv hdc (skip the starting ch-2). (12)
Round 2: ch 2 (does NOT count as a stitch).
*work 2 inverted half double crochets into every stitch.*
Close with a sl st in the first inv hdc (skip the starting chains). (24)
Round 3: *in next st: [1 sl st, ch 2, ps (see breakdown below), ch 2, 1 sl st], skip next stitch.*
You do not need to close the round with a slip stitch. You will have 12 petals.
Puff stitch breakdown for this round:
Step 1: yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop - repeat this a total of 3 times.
Step 2: yarn over and pull through 6 loops.
Step 3: yarn over and pull through all remaining loops on your hook.
There are many ways to use these flowers. Depending on your project, you might want to wait before weaving in the yarn tail from the magic ring and/or fastening off.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing or weaving in later.
Weave in all other tails neatly with a tapestry needle. Make sure to secure them tightly so they won't come undone. Your flower is now finished!
Attaching a flower onto a mandala or flower pot is a wonderful way to add detail! It's very simple to do.
