There are many different techniques for sewing together your amigurumi crochet projects. In this blog, you'll learn more about the techniques LKCuddles uses in the amigurumi crochet patterns.

Assembly: step by step

In the example, the snout is sewn on. You can use this sewing technique for attaching all parts.

You can also watch a short tutorial of sewing parts together on my YouTube channel: click here.

  • Insert the needle down into the next stitch of the snout (through the last round, going through the "V" shape of the single crochet);
  • Insert the needle into the head (into the space between two single crochets), directly below the stitch where you just came down;
  • Move to the next single crochet of the head (the next space) and bring the needle out again;
  • Insert the needle up into the next stitch of the snout (again through the last round, through the "V" shape of the single crochet).

Keep repeating these steps until you’ve done all stitches.

Always check carefully that, for example, the arms, legs or ears are neatly aligned. Look at the amigurumi from the front, top, bottom, and back to check that all the positions are symmetrical.

First, pin all the parts in place before you start sewing them on. This allows you to calmly determine the desired position. This is especially helpful when working with fluffy yarn, as you won’t be able to see the rounds or stitches. As you sew, remove each pin one by one. Always double-check to ensure you’ve removed all the pins.
